Tour de Somerville: Bikes take over

My friend Chris W. and I participated in the Tour de Somerville on Saturday. The 9-mile ride was pretty easy, going along a (mostly) leisurely, flat, route that brought us around Somerville, from Davis Square to the Mystic River and back. Starting at Seven Hills Park, behind the Somerville Theater in Davis Square, and ending there (see map), we got to see parts of Somerville I never had, including large stretches of the Mystic River. We stopped at the Winter Hill Yacht Club, which the City of Somerville threatens to take over by eminent domain for the proposed Assembly Square development.
The ride was made pleasant by the presence of 2 Somerville police officers, who kept us safe from cars, and stopped traffic when necessary, which was great, especially at a couple of nightmare intersections (Route 28, and crossing Mystic Ave by I-93, for example). The ride ended at Red Bones, where we were treated to corn bread and lemonade. Lots of fun!

Hi! I'm Ron Newman, a member of the Somerville Bicycle Committee, who put together this route and led the ride. Thank you so much for taking these photos. I will pass them on to other members of the committee.
(By the way, did you translate your post into German, or did someone else?)
Hi Ron
Thanks for the comment! And an even bigger thanks for organizing the ride! Please share the photos as you wish.
As for the German site, that's not mine. Not sure what the deal is with it....looks like it has lots of spam on it.
