I spent the weekend in New Hampshire at roommate Jeff's parents' farm, where Jeff grew up. It was Patrick's birthday, and besides the cake and gifts for him, the celebration was limited to tranquil relaxation, walks around fields of corn, conversations with cows and barn cats, tracking turkey prints in the mud, and harvesting a few vegetables right off the vine. It's so beautiful there. Living in a city leaves one so out of touch with the land, where our food comes from.

If you are ever in Grafton County, NH, in the summertime, I would suggest you drop by the Longview Farms road-side stand for tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, flowers, and their famous sweet corn.
